Site Evaluation Working Group (SEWG)

Regulatory issues Task Force

The mandate of this Task Force is to carry out the necessary preparations for registering
the SKA with the ITU. The Task Force is charged with preparing the appropriate documentation to
further this aim, and to inform both the SEWG and the ISSC through the Project Director of issues of global importance affecting SKA registration with the ITU, including issues related to Radio Quiet
Zones.

The Task Force will:
Calculate threshold levels for RFI for representative SKA sites making use of propagation models and taking account of the different terrains.
Outline the steps involved in setting up a Radio Quiet Zone
Create a table of information on satellites that are likely to interfere with the SKA
Create a timeline showing activities leading to registration of the SKA with the ITU.
