The main tasks of the SimWG are:
- Coordinate development of SKA simulation software suitable for addressing various issues of SKA design (such as SKA configurations, data flow management, power supply, etc.
- Assist in simulations of the SKA configurations proposed by the candidate sites, and generate standard figures-of-merit;
- Obtain an objective evaluation of the different technical concepts for the SKA;
- Provide input materials for understanding of the modes in which the telescope will operate;
- Participate in SKA science simulations; and
- Help develop an SKA engineering cost/performance simulator together with the appropriate project experts.
