PREPSKA WORK PACKAGE 2 ENGINEERS MEETING 10 - 14 November 2008 Introduction The aim of this “kick-off” meeting is to provide a forum for face-to-face discussions on the SKA design among SPDO staff, Liaison Engineers and related parties (members of the EWG and SWG). It will help develop working relationships between the SPDO and the Lead Institutions. The SPDO team will provide an overview of the setup of WP2 within the PrepSKA programme, including the principles, goals and expected outcomes for this work package. In addition, the processes for accomplishing WP2 will be reviewed: responsibilities, design reviews, delivered documentation. The first level of the WP2 Work Breakdown Structure (Version 1), including any re-organization of WP2 tasks, and the division of work will be discussed and modified as necessary to produce a Version 2. Discussions will also be held on the form and content of Memoranda of Agreements between PrepSKA and the Lead Institutions; the expected outcome being an updated Work Breakdown Structure (version 2), a compendium of outstanding technical and procedural issues, and general agreement on WP2 processes. Non-PrepSKA activites that have a direct impact on WP2 will be discussed. For example, an initial version of the Reference Science Mission will be presented with implications for overall SKA design.
