Farewell to Professor Brian Boyle, Australian SKA Project Director

SKA Comms - Brian Boyle deskProfessor Brian Boyle has recently stepped down from his position as Australian SKA Project Director to take up a role at the University of New South Wales.

Prof Boyle has made a significant contribution to the SKA over many years and has been a key figure in Australia’s astronomy community for even longer. His leadership was instrumental in bringing Australia into the SKA project as a major contributing partner, earning him the Australian Public Service Medal in 2013.

Mr David Luchetti will take on the role of Australian SKA Project Director, with others in the astronomy community advising the Australian SKA Office on SKA science issues. Mr Luchetti has worked alongside Brian in the Australian SKA Office since 2009.

On 1 July, Brian will commence in his new role as the Director of Research Strategy at the University of New South Wales.

Everyone here at the SKAO office would like to thank Professor Boyle for his fantastic role in cementing the future of the SKA and wish him every success in his new role.
