The goal of the SKA procurement function is to ensure the successful execution of the SKA entire mission, by effectively and efficiently managing the acquisition process.

As with other areas of SKA’s policy programme, the detailed procurement arrangements are under discussion at present. It is expected that future opportunities for industry, in the project’s construction phase, will lie in:

  • Contracts places by the central SKA Organisation
  • In-kind contributions by SKA Member States

The general principles that will govern the future procurement policy are that they will be characterised by openness, competitiveness and transparency, noting the requirement for Member States to receive a level of return proportional to their investment. These principles will apply to both cash and expected in-kind contributions.

Further details of the construction-phase procurement process will be presented here shortly.

Contact Points
In the meantime, it should be noted that in the current design phase of the project, there are only limited tender opportunities directly with SKA Organisation. Other opportunities arise from time-to-time within the various Design Consortia or host countries and interested parties are encouraged to approach the Consortium Leaders or their national participants in those consortia (or own host country) directly.

For more information, and to discuss potential opportunities in the various areas of SKA’s design process, please contact your Industry Contact Point.

For detailed enquiries and to discuss the future procurement policy for the SKA in the construction phase, please contact Simon Berry or Phil Crosby.
